“All Hail the Pow’r of Jesus’ Name” | Songs for Sunday, Sept. 11

One of the songs we’re singing this Sunday is “All Hail the Pow’r of Jesus’ Name,” originally written by Englishman Edward Perronet in 1780. This version is sung by contemporary Christian artist, Paul Baloche.

This hymn is a rich declaration of praise. The words both declare the majesty of Christ and compel us to proclaim that glory to others. The first stanza includes a strong allusion to Philippians 2:9-11: “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Let’s worship together, remembering how we long for that day.

The lyrics are included in the video, for your further reflection. Enjoy!
