CHURCHWIDE CONGREGATIONAL MEETING ON SEPTEMBER 15
After the coffee hour on September 15 we will have a congregational meeting during which the elders will provide ministry updates and information about the new ministry year, including a new Sunday schedule and prayer emphasis. All members of the church are requested to please attend if able.
KIDS’ BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY – SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15
As a way to celebrate the start of the school year and the return of Sunday school, we are throwing a Back to School Party in the Fellowship Hall from 2:30-4 PM on Sunday, September 15! MONTHLY YOUTH NIGHTS – EVERY 3RD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH
With a growing number of youth in our church, we are excited to introduce Youth Nights, a new monthly gathering for 6-12th graders, which will take place every 3rd Sunday of the month. Our first meeting is Sunday, September 15 from 5-6:30 PM. We’ll meet at CCNYC for food, fun, and fellowship. This semester, we’ll also work our way through the book of Philippians.
We need help to get this ministry going, so if you are interested in joining the team to help run the events (which could be just showing up to eat and chat or planning games or the Bible study), please contact becky@christchurchnyc.com.
EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH AT 92Y STREET FEST ON SEPTEMBER 22
Christ Church NYC will be manning a booth at the annual 92Y Street Festival on Lexington Avenue between 85th & 86th Streets on Sunday, September 22 from 12pm – 4pm. We will have evangelistic booklets and Bibles to hand out and hope for opportunities to share the gospel with our community members. We hope to mobilize the whole church, whether in volunteering to help set up or tear down, to evangelize, or in praying for our witness to NYC. Sign up for 30 minutes or the whole event, whenever you can be there. A Community Group is a great way to build relationships with other Christians and to participate in the life of Christ Church. For the 2024-25 Ministry Year, the Community Groups are:
- Sundays at 1 PM: Church Building
- Tuesdays at 10 AM: Church Building (women only)
- Tuesdays at 7 PM: UES (86th St between Madison & Park)
- Thursdays at 7:15 PM: UWS (Manhattan Avenue at 111th St)
- Fridays at 6:30 PM: UES (90th St between Lex & 3rd)
- Fridays at 7:30 PM: UES (85th St between 1st & York)
Community Groups exist at Christ Church NYC to help us fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus for the glory of God. They provide a context for cultivating relationships with Christ and each other through the study and application of God’s Word and through encouraging one another to live out our lives for the good of others and the glory of God.
LESSONS & CAROLS
We invite you to participate in a Christ Church choir led by our Esther Liu Harris for our Lessons and Carols service on Sunday, December 15! We will be singing several pieces of special choral music for the service (including Gloria from the Vivaldi’s Gloria), and leading the congregation in classic Christmas carols. Rehearsals are on select Sunday afternoons beginning October 6. No prior experience necessary! Please contact Esther Liu Harris.
Rehearsal schedule: 10/6, 10/27, 11/3, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8 from 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM in the church sanctuary.
MEAL MINISTRY AT CHRIST CHURCH NYC
Do you love serving people with food? Would you like to share your love of food to share with others? The Meal Ministry at CCNYC is a small yet significant act of service providing food for those recovering from illness, or walking through a period of bereavement, or for those simply adjusting to life with a newborn baby. 2024 BIBLE READING, MEMORIZATION, AND PRAYER PLAN
To help encourage all of us to give ourselves more faithfully to prayer and the reading of God’s Word this year, we’ve put together a Bible reading, memorization, and prayer plan for 2024. The booklet encompassing the entire year is now available. Please pick up a copy on Sunday or download it from our website.
WOMEN’S DISCIPLESHIP OPPORTUNITY
During the school year, our Women’s Fellowship Group meets every Tuesday. Please join us at church (111 East 87th Street) from 10 AM to 11:30 AM for a time of Bible study and fellowship. Childcare is available. Please email women@christchurchnyc.com if you have any questions.
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY: ROMANS
The men meet at the Commons (157 East 86th Street) at 7:45 AM to 8:30 AM for a Men’s bible study starting with the book of Romans. Study guide will be provided to those who sign-up. Please sign-up by emailing brenton.ayers@protonmail.com.
COMING UP! ANNUAL CHURCH RETREAT
Our annual fall church retreat at Tuscarora Inn & Conference Center in Mt. Bethel PA will be October 18-20, 2024. As in the past, a bus will be provided and will leave Christ Church NYC that Friday evening, returning Sunday afternoon.
