Acts 19, the Importance of Our Affections, and Wisdom from an Old Scot

Acts 19, the Importance of Our Affections, and Wisdom from an Old Scot

From Keith Paulus

As we examined Acts 19 and Paul’s gospel ministry in the city of Ephesus this past Sunday, we specifically noted the remarkable change that began to take place in that city as individual lives were transformed. In light of that, we asked the question: how does that happen? How do we defeat the idols of our own heart and thus begin to have an impact on the idols of the city?
In trying to answer that question, and in light of what Jesus later says to the Ephesians in Revelation 2:4, I referenced a famous sermon by the Scottish pastor, Thomas Chalmers (1780-1847): “The Expulsive Power of a New Affection.” Here is a link to it. Enjoy!
