Christ Church NYC 2022 Retreat | Renovaré
October 21st to 23rd
(Friday evening to Sunday lunch)
“Let us not give up meeting together… but encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching”Hebrews 10:25
As the body of Christ, we are called to come together in order to fulfill Jesus’ command to love one another. So come to rest and sit under God’s Word. Come to gain a clearer understanding of our worship, community, and mission as a gospel-centered church in NYC. Come for an opportunity to invest in each other, forging deeper relationships and building new ones. Come Renovaré!
We are excited to announce that the Rev. Jason Palacio will be our retreat speaker this year. Some of you may remember Jason from his visit with us a few years back. At that time, Jason was visiting us from South Africa and did an excellent and faithful job opening up God’s Word for us. He is now ministering full-time in the US.
At this year’s retreat, we will be focusing on the book of Proverbs. Jason will lead us in a study entitled, “Living a Better Story”. Jason writes: “Wisdom is a rich concept and not easily defined. At its most basic level wisdom is the skill of living a successful and good life. It is a knowledge that helps us to know how to act in every situation, to avoid problems and pitfalls, and the skill to handle life when we make mistakes. It is a theological pattern of thinking that applies the wisdom of God to the practical issues of life.”
Meet Our Guest Speaker! Jason was born and grew up in America and, after high school, moved to South Africa. He completed seminary in Cape Town at George Whitfield College and was ordained for ministry into the Church of England in South Africa (now known as REACH-SA). Over the years Jason has served in local churches in South Africa and the UK. Most recently Jason and his wife Jeanine were involved in planting and growing Southern Cross Church, where he served as rector for 11 years.
Jason has a heart for God, people and Scripture. He loves to see relationships established and transformed through God’s Word and engage with people who don’t yet follow Jesus. He enjoys all things outdoors with his family, including mountain biking, surfing and going for a run with his wife, followed by some good food.
Jason and Jeanine have three children, Keira, Ethan and Tyler, and together they enjoy all kinds of adventures and having people in their home!
